Aerial Assault

Dscf0079 Yesterday we were invaded from above by a group who were island hopping by helicopter round the isolated coastline of the Western Highlands. Knowing that they were due to leave quite early this morning I decided to try and persuade them to land, park, on the 6th fairway a little distance from the hotel. In reality this was the preferred landing spot for the pilot as it left him a long runway- up the 6th or down the 1st depending on the wind.

Never being one to miss an opportunity I suggested that when he zipped out to Connel to refuel that one of us join him to insure he landed in the right spot - however being wise never replaces being quick and as soon as the departure was mentioned Chay quickly hopped into the passenger seat on the basis it would help him see the progress on the golf course!! And what a view he got this shot looks down the third fairway towards the tee in the distance - however it also leaves me wondering what all the fuss about rough ground is when the course looks in such great shape.

It is great credit to Les on the course that even though the weathermen tell us spring has not yet arrived and the winter has been severe he has the course in such a picturesque condition. Now I must dig out my clubs and try it on the ground!!

Great picture. I hope Les insisted that the helicopter's divots were replaced!
