Flying Visit

Lilac_004 Lilac_016 Once again my big mouth nearly got us in trouble- About three months ago we had a call from a guest asking if they could fly in for lunch by plane, land on the loch and head home after wards- grasped by the concept and without real thought I accepted. However as the date came closer I began to wonder how this would work, did the plane have a tender, did it drive up onto the beach or did they simply wade ashore?

The day came closer and in the midst of the confusion Chay was volunteered to meet the plane in Rose of Argyll, then it was discovered that Rose was too high in the water to fit under the wing and eventually when the guests arrived they were ferried by rubber dingy to Rose then rose to the pier and eventually back on dry land - not the best result but over lunch we asked the pilot if he could come closer inshore so for departure he simply floated close to the beach and once all were aboard Chay pushed the plane off in his wellies and they were off.

You see it could have been so simple if others had listened to me in the first place!! Anyway hopefully no they have found us we can do more with the plane and even enough for Chay to get a trip round the bay!!

Oh my goodness, I have to say I'm glad my mother does not have to deal with that kind of thing at her bed and breakfast here in the US. Her place is a block in from the river, but we've never had to have guests arrive by plane and land in the water. Anyway, looks like a beautiful place. Have never been to Scotland, but if we make the trip someday, will look you up!

I own a B&B that's about a block from the river. I guess when you own a bed and breakfast you can expect anything. But really. Your special guest needs "take the cake" or is it "the muffin?"

I hope my plane is not going to land on the water today
