Busy week

Well as if every week isn't busy here this week seems to have lasted for ever. It started with a dash south in my role;e as the Chairman of Pride of Britain Hotels, to visit a new member, Kilworth House, near Birmingham. It was an opportunity for me to see round this property and meet with the key staff to discuss the best ways to work with the team at Foxley to help communicate and direct the right trade to their door. Next it was a dash to Pride of Britain's head office in Wiltshire and c chance to see the set up and meet the team who deal with all the reservations.

It is nearly 6 years since I last visited the office and although we communicate on a weekly basis it is good to see where they work and how the operation functions. Then off to Calcot Manor, another Pride of Britain property, I had not stayed here since they added the spa and since we are in the midst of building new changing facilities it was a chance to steal a few ideas and reassure myself that we were on the right track. This was especially appropriate as I returned to Eriska to lay the new changing rooms out and was immediately confronted with insuring that all the spaces work efficiently. Its amazing when you see plans how different it all looks on the ground and at least by changing a few dimensions now it will save time later when we realize we have made an error.

Then yesterday we held our first staff development day, with the kitchen staff off to the butchers, and the rest of the staff in courses all day here. Then finally last night we took advantage of everyone off at the same time and visited Stalker View for an old fashioned home cooked Christmas dinner. All a great success and definitely an experience we would like to repeat next year. Anyway hotel back open now and a busy weekend before the start of next week!! probably just as busy!!
