stitching a view

Eriska_panoramic This week I bumped into Dennis, our resident photographer back out taking some shots of the hills. Typical of a perfectionsist he is never sure that the latest shot he has taken is really up to date and due to his persistence over the last 2 years we have managed to keep the images of Eriska pretty well up to date. This time he was trying to get some images of the island so he could test his latest piece of technology. In truth the days of the darkroom are long gone but just as much of his skill is in his office with a computer working to show the images in their true light.

His latest software will help to join shots together so that the shot you see is the shot your eyes sees. Here is a perfect example of the view from the top of the island. It shows the hole skyline looking west and certainly makes my fathers shot of 20 years ago which he stitched together with sellotape and scissors seem a little primative. No vertical line or change in shades now. Somehow I would like to think my father would have appreciated the advance but I suspect he would have preffered the old method simply becuase it showed his prowess with the camera!!
