Highland Coo at Eriska

Isle_of_eriska_049 Last year when we created the plinthes in front of the Stables I envisaged that we would have two areas for dispaying works from local artists. Therefore, as is often the case, thoughts not quite as fast as actions, so having created the area we had nothing to display so I set about researching and finding artists that we could work with. A little bit like visiting the publishers to sign off 3000 Eriska Books and returning with 6000 ordered but this time I returned with a great friendship in a Sculptor and the promise of two great peices of work but niether suitable for the North entrance of the stables.

Chay went along with this as I think he truly did not beleive it would come to anything but today at 10.00am the two lorries crossed the bridge and arrived with 15 tonnes of carved Granite. The first the highland Coo was to be sited in my mothers back yard and initially this had been planned for when she was on holiday so that she would return to a new surprise but due to a few delays outwith our control it arrived this week. Not being artistic at all I am easily persuaded as to artwork and often agree with others in matters so as not to offend when I really do not understand, but in the case of the cow, as soon as I visited it in its last resting place, the corner of Holyrood Park, I knew it would be perfect, in my opinion, on the crest of the hill to lymphoy and for once it is sitting exactly where I had planned and looks exactly as I had envisaged.
