Compost Trial amd Test
We always knew that the move to greener better recyling would not always be a flat, straight road and we were prepared for a few bumps and turns but so far it is all moving according to plan and will see a wee bit of trial and Error before we can declare the project an unreserved success. Our first load of compost has been expelled from the composter machine and whilst it still has some work to be done on it, it is certainly a move in the right direction. We probably did not leave it in the first section for long enough and ceratianly did not manage to allow it the full 2 weekw in the secoind section as it was still a wee bit too damp but there is no doubt that it has broken down and decomposed in an amazingly speedy timescale!
Only the citrus skins are recognisable and everything else has broken down and once rotavated into the soil of the new garden area it has become invisible. Now we will hopefully see the results in the greater crops from the garden and most importantly we have reduced our outgoings from the bin area by 25% and probably most notably the most fragrant elements of the bins are no longer evident as they are within the composter and the back entrance to the main house is certainly more pleasant except that we now have a family of Midges now guarding it!! Well at least that keeps the smokers on the staff to a minimum!!!
