Eriska Wins 2008 Catey- “Independent Hotel of the Year”

Last night I went to London to attend the Catey Dinner. I had attended the dinner a couple of times in the past when I used to write for the “Caterer and Hotelkeeper” and thought that this year I had been invited in my capacity as the Chairman of Pride of Britain Hotels .

The Cateys are the Hospitalities version of the Oscars with the industry nominating and voting for their most deserving candidates.

It was therefore initially a shock when Eriska was read out as a nomination given the huge range of properties in the room and then huge surprise when the citation was read out and Eriska was announced as the winner. The Cateys were also celebrating 25 years and looking back over the years and the names previuosly on the trophy are among those we aspire to mimic and have tried to become.

The award is huge credit to all in the team who work here at Eriska both now and in the past and Chay and I are only able to create Eriska with the support and help of all those around us and we both appreciate it and in turn they should all be rightly proud that the award has come both North of the border and in particular to Eriska.
