Last Years cub makes an appearance

It was only this week that one of our guests was asking how we started seeing the badgers at the bar door of Eriska and I was left to recount the story of Eddie. This was also the second time his name had been mentioned in a week as the parents of one of our ex staff was staying from New Zealand and they had been asked by their son to enquire if Eddie was still at Eriska.

Eddie was a redoubtable Night porter- though not in the vein of Arnott the Clark Hutchiesons butler from the turn of the last century- he worked nights at Eriska and after much teasing and personal perseverence he coaxed a family of badgers to the bar door late at night and so began the ritual of the Eriska Badgers. With over 60 badgers on the island it would be easy to tthink we could be overcome by visitors but it is an exclusive club and we only ever seem to have one family staying with us and even they never bring their young,Babybadger

But that was until this week when Ronnie snapped a shot of what must surely be last years cub and the youngest badger we have had visiting. The good news is that he seems to have been sold on the Eriska Experience and has been back several times since then!
