Continual refurbishment
Eriska is a bit like the Forth road bridge in that no sooner have we completed one task than another comes along and needs attention. The good thing is that providing we try and do better every time we hope we can move forward with steps every time and not slip back. This week we have three more rooms out of action for so refurbishment.
They come hot on the heals of the Lilac conservatory which was officially back open at the weekend to great acclaim. Indeed the first users were not aware that we were going to be extending Lilac and were surprised as i their words it seemed fine before. But by the time the rain came and they had a big woolly dog the conservatory became a mandatory addition allowing dog drying in a fairly robust environment.
Having been nearly caught out in the summer with delayed lights and furniture we decided this year to buy and take delivery of the new items before we started the work. this proved a good call as only a couple of weeks ago the carpet maker called to give us the bad news that he could not make the delivery as he was going into receivership- a trait i hope is not contagious. Anyway a new manufacturer has been found and we are back on track. So we now have a warehouse full of furniture a workshop full of light fittings and a hotel full of painters and decorators! And most importantly a timetable and a client standing over them limiting tea breaks and talk!! They promise me we are on schedule!!! We will see on Friday.
