Investigation reveals the answer

We are now nearly finished the latest work on the bedrooms in the hotel with two due to be completed tomorrow and only the carpets and furniture to be placed and one on the final stretch with a bit of painting and wallpaper to be hung. In effect it has been a quick and busy week with painters and joiners in all directions but we are nearly there and the result is already evident. again I was curing the designers who asked for a headboard to be moved a couple of inches across the wall and probably unsurprisingly- although annoyingly correct for me- it make s huge differnce to the look. What had always been a mistake we ignored has now been corrected and boy does it look better.

The upstairs in one of the rooms that had always felt a little under heated I had the opportunity to check behind the wall only to find out that insulation supposedly installed in the last refit had been omitted so we have today corrected the issue and already there is a marked difference in the temperature of the room- to the extent that the windows were all open to cool the workers down. It just goes to show that often the simplest answers are the easiset to find and only our stubbornness stops us form accepting them as I had always been assured the insulation had been used and a simple hole investigation would have settled the matter. anyway all fixed and no harm done.

Next  task , and at this point I must admit to being away in Edinburgh tomorrow -so no supervision- will be to get the 2 metre long sideboard through a turn in the corridor that will not allow it to be simply pushed- otherwise it will be a big external lift and in through the window!!  I think it best if i simply leave a list of tasks and hide it amongst the rest with a comment that all should be finished by the time I return!!

Eriska is utter heaven, a private island to explore whether you are a family or a couple of any age i can't understand any of the negative comments here it just goes to prove that some people will moan at anything...

We stayed for 4 days and could not fault it. We did have a situation where some finishing touches were being made to the SPA which interupted our treatments. We gave them feedback and upon check out they apologied and provided us with some free goodies which have given us great memories for our trip. I understand that the SPA is now fully finished so this will not be a problem for you and i also know that the final 3 golf holes are playable now.

The breakfast is outstanding however be warned porridge with double cream 4 days running will put weight on you trust me. The afternoon tea was a nice touch and my wife and i had no problem chosing our dinner at this point. We spent each day seal hunting (not literally obviously) around the island and coming in out of the cold after sunset to afternoon tea and as foodies we had no issue with a menu at this point.

Yes the hotel is traditional and yes the clientel when we were there were mostly older couples but this made no bit of difference to our trip and shouldn't yours. We were there to spend a romantic break with each other and franky whatever the age of the other guests was no issue.
