Lilac Complete
Well it took a little longer than estimated, firstly because of the planning restrictions- then the building warrant delay-then the rain and inclement weather and finally general inefficiency from the building team ( probably attributed to my interference) but at last it is complete and as they say "it is often better after a wait".! or so the team keep telling me when they miss deadlines and timetables.
It has in reality added a huge amount to the cottage with more space, a lot more light and in effect another room to the mix making both cottages about the same size and definitely evening them up for guests to choose between. We have also taken the opportunity to pave the whole garden and Eriska has given the borders a refresh taking away many of the older plants and replacing them with younger more virile strains. There was also a move to fell the lilac tree in the centre of the garden but I was loathe to remove the main name of the cottage and after some tactical pruning we have remove the slightly deader branches and thinned the growth both letting in substantially more light and making the conservatory a little less at risk from damage! So now it is all hands to teh pumps to get teh three rooms ready in the hotel that have been out for work last week and are due back tomorrow!!
