Well deserved Congratulations-100 years old Goring Hotel

Eriska has now been operating for 38 years and whilst we have no long term set down target for survival, often tomorrow morning can seem like a good enough starting point, we can look back with pride in the achievement that we have lasted so far and each year the good food guide lists its entries that have been with them for the longest period and each year we seem to edge our way up the list towards the top. However  Yesterday I was invited to the celebrations marking 100 years of the Goring Hotel in London.

This pales our success into insignificance and indeed it is now in the 5^thGeneration of the Goring Family with one of each generation at the helm. They, having survived two world wars and many other challenges that the world and indeed the hospitality industry has to throw at us, still remains at the top of the tree. It has mixed tradition with the needs of each era and at its heart is the welcome and hospitality Indeed one of our guests thought that it was linked directly to Eriska due to my father referring to it as HIS London hotel!!

So last night we were kindly invited to a wonderful celebration in te Goring Garden with 800 hundred guests who were treated to a selection of food from the last century with 10 tables representing  each of the decades and music from across the years , however the most significant part was the collection of staff from the past and the enthusiasm and welcome from the regular team, who had all dressed up in uniforms from the past. If we are half as lucky when we reach 50, as I hope we do we will be truly blessed, but for now we will concentrate on tomorrow!
